UK’s First Major City-Centre Train Station in 130 Years Underway

A £460million project is transforming Birmingham’s Curzon Street into the UK’s first city-centre mainline station since 1899. Integrated with the HS2 high-speed rail line, the station will feature seven platforms, public green spaces, and pedestrian-friendly paths. Construction began in 2024, with completion expected by the mid-2030s. Designed to enhance connectivity, it will cut London-Birmingham travel to 49 minutes.
