India’s First Underwater High-Speed Rail Tunnel Begins Construction

Construction has commenced on a 7 km undersea tunnel near Mumbai, part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor in Maharashtra, India. The project, initiated to enhance connectivity between major cities, integrates high-speed rail and uses advanced tunneling methods. Begun in July 2024, it aims to protect local ecosystems while boosting transportation efficiency.
